The Borg's Current Take On The King of the North
by Rapunzel inreading aleman's intelligent and erudite posts in regard to prophecies and other things biblical got me to thinking and prompted me to ask the following question - just what is the watchtower bible and tract society's current [as of this month, february 2008] interpretation on the identity of the wicked witch king of the north?
when i was in - many moons ago in the late 1970's - the king of the north was depicted, if my memory serves me correctly, as the soviet union.
but as the expression goes, s*** happens.

Why do animals die if they did not "sin"- Do my Dogs survive Armagedon?
by Witness 007 inadam was going to live forever..but he sinned.
then why did god in eden create animals who get old and grey and die?
also do my dogs get "divine protection" from jehovah even though they are not very spiritual.....they only like to eat and play!

Tired of the Hypocrisy
from what I understand, the animals are perfect in their manner. They play and live life in a way so we can pick up onm cwertain qualities. Like the ant for instance is a busy provider. I also read in the jw lit that the animals die as a reminder to us with the gift of eternal life to be in fear of 2nd death.....Go figure...A built in guilt trip

Why Aren't There Windows in the Newer Kingdom Halls?
by StAnn ini've driven by several newer kh's in the past few years and noticed that none of them have even so much as one window.
just double doors on the front (with no windows) and a solid door on the back.
what's up with that?

Tired of the Hypocrisy
I remember being around 10 yrs old and they built a new hall in Albuquerque. They put in these long narrow windows avery 6-8 feet apart. They were opaque to a point and sort of amber colored. I always used to crack up when a misbehaving kid got taken outside "for some air"......and then we say the mom or dad's sillouette in the glass beating the shit out of their kid. They could not disturb the meeting, but they could entertain us kids.....Oh and alal teh neighbors outside on a Sunday afternoon would see how the poor kids get treated....I think they would be jailed if seen doing it today.

Big time watchtower art dept. jest
by cultswatter inlook at the following nonsense.
look at this link http://www.word-sunday.com/files/b/passion-b/a-passion2-b.html.
mark stated the crucifixion almost as an aside, since his audience already knew the fate of jesus, and since the methods of crucifixion were well known at the time.

Tired of the Hypocrisy
It seems to me that, to the christian, whether Jesus was nailed to a cross or to a stake should have no importance at all, the point being his sacrificial death.
It does not matter if He died on a vertical post, a cross, or if they shot him with a machine gun or a hand phaser. His death is the main idea, not how he died. I have an old buddy that is a Pentacostal Christian who does not believe in wearing a cross. His idea is this.....If they shot Christ to death with a gun would we be wearing chains with tiny revolvers on them?
I believe that the Bible mentions the word TREE in one account. Christ also was forcced to bear His cross.....So I think he carried the crossbeam and was nailed to the tree or post........

Tired of the Hypocrisy
obesity of course not healthy is a matter of "conscience" I guess on that one . I've known allot of heavy weights but none so large they couldn't walk or bathe or make meetings .
There are so many schools of thought on what being fat is, what being obese is, and what a tub of lard is. I know a very spiritual jw who has overcome so many problems in his life. He had a severely retarded and disabled daughter, he floated from job to job, lived in poverty, and did everything for his God and his family. He also happened to be sort of a fat guy. He was very well trained in teaching and in fact had been an elder for many years and had been giving talks and even emceeing the circuit and district assemblies now and then. Then comes in brother megadeath. He was Mega, the co from hell. This bully went into that cong and told this guy that he was too fat to be representing Jah and would lose 75 pouinds immediately or else he would lose his position. He had one year of very limited priveleges to lose the weight or lose the job altogether. He lost the weight. He also looked like crap. His health failed him and he became very depressed and sicker and sicker. This pipsqueak Mega visited our cong next. I never wanted to be an elder, or a ms for that matter. So my name was never on his to-do list. But he came up to me and told me he was a tailor in Brooklyn, NY before becoming a jw and he knew I wore a size 52 suit just by how it hung on me. I told him he was right. He said, when I come back next time I want to see you in a 46. I laughed and told him to worry about his receding hairline and I would worry about my gut......

Anyone else have to deal with being herded to the front of the hall before a meeting?
I recall one cong in particular...West Sacramento was notorious for this crap. I was a large individual and today I am even larger....LOL 6'2" and around 250 lbs back then. I was the sound guy half the time, I roved a mic but, I was mostly a parking lot/seating attendant. I would arrive early and leave after the elders. My main job was supposed to be to greet the brothers and sisters upon their arrival, as well as encourage nwewcomoers to stick around and feel welcome. It didn't take long for one elder in particular to start pushing folks around. He told me that what needed to be done was "ask" the folks that arrived early to move to the front of the hall. This was fine, but it got to the point where I felt like I had to force these folks to move. I have always been a back of the hall kind of guy myself, and I felt bad about this new duty.
Well, one Sunday, one of the guys being considered for ms came in and his wife and kids sat toward the back. He was bringing in boxes of lit from the lit servant's car and my seating overlord told me to move the lady and the girls up to the front row. Well, the sis just smiled and said that they got their early so they could choose their own seat. I smiled and left it at that. The little twat seating overlord, came up to me and said to me that he had sent me on a mission and I better get to it and move the sis and her kids up to row number one. I told him what she said and that I agreed with her. That little punk had the ballz to tell me that he didn't care how her or I fwelt about it, he told me to move her and I was going to move her. Or Else.......
So, I folded my arms in front of me and asked the turd or else what? He said that I would obey or I would be sat down for the meeting. So I told him that I had already asked her, she refused and I did not have the right to force her to move. If he wanted me to sit out the meeting then it was his call, and the privelege was his to assign as he pleased, but I was not going to keep on harrassing peaceful people about where to sit. He got all mad and turned red, so I told him to have a nice day and I went to sit down with my wife and kids in the back row. We moved from the middle! HA! Fastforward to the school and service meeting.......Guess who was sitting way up in front? Yup, the seating overlord grabbed the ms wannab and told him to get his family in subjection or his recommendation for ms would go into the crapper.
Anyone else had to deal with this sort of penny ante crap?

I remember back in the 1960's as a kid the jw's were much happier. Maybe it's because they got a regular 15 minute smoke break right before the wt study!!

How many of you feel you have had more material success AFTER leaving JW
by BBOARD inhow many of us since either mentally or physically leaving the witnesses have had more material success ... or any other kind of success that needed time ... the kind that was given back to you when you stopped attending jw meetings.
you see my mother has come down with a little flu over the past two weekends and this has in proxy allowed me to miss, already, 2 thursday /saturday (book study & field service)/ and sunday meeting.
in just these two short weeks i have had more time to go online and run my half.com small-time book business, study more for those tests, and live fun.
